Simpson Strong-Tie Donates $25,000 to Support Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Simpson Strong-Tie made a $25,000 donation to assist in the relief response and recovery efforts throughout the East Coast. The donation was given to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and will aid in providing food, shelter, emotional support and other assistance to those affected by the hurricane. In addition, the company will match employees' personal contributions to the Red Cross and other nonprofit disaster relief organizations. Click here to donate to the Red Cross.

Simpson Strong-Tie has signed an agreement with Robert Bosch Power Tool Corp., the world's leading manufacturer of professional power tools and accessories, to form a strategic alliance that will allow the companies to jointly pursue sales, marketing and product development opportunities in the North American concrete construction market.

The new sales combination gives the companies' distribution partners and customers' access to the broadest commercial and residential product portfolio in the concrete construction industry. The strategic alliance will give distributors the opportunity to compete effectively and take market share from direct sellers.

The alliance seeks to bring to market a complete Bosch/Simpson Strong-Tie installation system, including adhesive and mechanical anchors, demolition and rotary hammers and accessories, and to improve efficiency and productivity for customers. The new venture also will provide joint jobsite training to installers and offer distribution partners a variety of sales and marketing benefits. The Integrated Component Systems line includes Simpson Strong-Tie Component Solutions™ software for roof and floor trusses and wall panels, along with a full line of code-listed truss connector plates. Component Solutions software is a powerful program providing manufacturers with the tools they need to efficiently design and manufacture trusses. Within the software, designers can model structures in an intuitive 3-D environment, create and optimize truss and panel designs, send truss design information to Simpson Strong-Tie for engineering seals, and more.

On November 2, Simpson Strong-Tie collaborated with the City of Austin, TX on a deck collapse demonstration to highlight the importance of building and maintaining a safe, strong deck after recent deck collapses injured Austin residents. More than 150 engineers, architects, building product suppliers, homeowners and City officials were on hand to watch the demonstration. The demo included a review of the five warning signs of an unsafe deck, along with the five steps homeowners and builders can take to ensuring a safer, stronger deck.
