2014 Wood Construction Connectors Addendum Available

The 2014 Addendum to the Simpson Strong-Tie® Wood Construction Connectors 2013-2014 Catalog is now available. The addendum features new products and line extensions introduced by Simpson Strong-Tie since the 2013-2014 Wood Construction Connectors Catalog was released in early 2013. Featured products include new hangers, post bases and straps. The addendum also lists discontinued products for 2014.

New HTSQ Twist Strap

The Simpson Strong-Tie® HTSQ twist strap provides uplift resistance for decks, boardwalks and beams that enables quicker and more consistent installation when compared to bolted straps. The HTSQ requires fewer fasteners than nailed HTS straps when using Simpson Strong-Tie Strong-Drive® SDS screws. The strap has a 3" bend section designed to eliminate interference at the transition point and is available in ZMAX® coating or stainless steel for additional corrosion resistance. Introducing DU/DHU Series of Drywall Hangers

Simpson Strong-Tie recently released the DU/DHU face mount and DHUTF top mount drywall hangers. For jobs requiring joist installation after drywall is already in place, these new drywall hangers are designed to carry joist floor loads through two layers of 5/8" drywall. The drywall hangers are available in sizes that hold most joists used in multi-family construction. Learn more.

More Sizes for BA Hangers Now Available

Simpson Strong-Tie has added several new sizes to its popular BA top flange hangers. Designed for high-capacity I-joists or moderately loaded Structural Composite Lumber, the BA hanger can carry loads up to 4,500 lbs. The new BA hangers can accommodate joist sizes ranging from 1 3/4" x 7 1/4" to 3 1/2" x 16". To find out more about the BA top flange hanger and other connectors, click here.

Strong Frame® Special Moment Frame Wins Architectural Products' Innovation Award

Simpson Strong-Tie has received an Architectural Products magazine Product Innovation Award for its Strong Frame® special moment frame. The award honors innovation in building product design and spans all products throughout the market sector.

The Strong Frame special moment frame is a cutting-edge lateral system solution designed to help prevent structural damage in earthquakes. The frame features patented Yield-Link™ structural fuse technology. During a seismic event, the beam-to-column links are engineered to bear the brunt of lateral forces, keeping the structural integrity of the beams and columns intact. With bolt-on/bolt-off ability, the links are fully replaceable if damaged. This makes replacement easier and faster because the beam and columns can remain in the structure during repairs.
