Simpson Strong-Tie News: November 2014
Blue Banger Hanger

Blue Banger Hanger® Now Code Listed

The Simpson Strong-Tie® Blue Banger Hanger® recently received "cracked concrete" recognition (ICC-ES ESR-3707) in compliance with the 2012 International Building Code®. It is the first headed cast-in-place specialty insert approved for cracked concrete under the newly issued ICC-ES AC446 (Acceptance Criteria for Headed Cast-in Specialty Inserts in Concrete).

The Blue Banger Hanger is suitable for anchoring suspended mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment, piping and conduit. It can be quickly fastened to either wood formwork or through corrugated metal deck before concrete is poured. The hanger's design also incorporates multiple thread diameters into a single insert, allowing for flexibility in layout to the installer and flexibility to the Designer in case loads are changed during construction.

Updated AutoCADUpdated AutoCAD® Menu

Simpson Strong-Tie recently updated its AutoCAD® menu for AutoCAD 2012 and later with 521 new drawings and a video about how to install and use the software. There are now nearly 6,600 DWGs in this collection.

For users who have the older version of this library for AutoCAD Content Explorer, AutoCAD will automatically index your files once they are installed in the same location. For those who have used other drawing programs, AutoCAD will copy DWGs to the computer's hard drive and place them into folders relating to the Simpson Strong-Tie catalog to make it easier to find drawings.

CPTZTHIS OLD HOUSE Adds CPTZ to Top 100 Products List

THIS OLD HOUSE recently named the Simpson Strong-Tie® CPTZ concealed post base to the "TOH Top 100," a list of the 100 best new home products of the year.

The CPTZ connects wood posts to concrete. It includes a knife plate with a standoff base to achieve a clean, concealed look, while providing a 1" standoff height above concrete. The standoff height reduces the potential for decay at post or column ends and is code-required when supporting permanent structures exposed to weather or water splash. For more information about the CPTZ concealed post base, visit our new products page.
