New Anchor Products

New Anchors Simpson Strong-Tie offers a full array of anchoring systems for residential, infrastructure, commercial and industrial uses. The latest product additions include the Wood Rod Hanger and the Hollow Drop-In Anchor (HDIA).

The Wood Rod Hanger is a one-piece fastening system for suspending 1/4" or 3/8" threaded rod. It is available in vertical and horizontal orientations for a wide variety of applications. The Wood Rod Hanger features a Type-17 tip for fast installation starts with no predrilling and provides attachment points for use in pipe-hanging, fire-protection, electrical-conduit and cable-tray applications. A custom-matched nut driver sets the rod hangers to optimal depth every time.

The Simpson Strong-Tie® HDIA is an internally threaded, flush-mount expansion anchor for use in hollow materials such as CMU and hollow-core plank, as well as in solid base materials such as brick or normal-weight and lightweight concrete. It is suitable for suspending conduit, cable trays, pipe supports, fire sprinklers and suspended lighting from concrete. The internally threaded design allows for easy bolt removal.

DTT1Z Wins Product Innovation Award

The new Simpson Strong-Tie® DTT1Z deck tension tie has won a 2015 Product Innovation Award from Architectural Products magazine. The Product Innovation Awards seek to recognize manufacturers who are working toward delivering more sustainable products, as well as products that deliver better performance, life and affordability.

The DTT1Z is a less invasive alternative for attaching a deck to a home and meets 2015 IRC® code standards. Instead of accessing floor joists from inside the house, the tension tie is designed to be fastened from outside the house, making it a safe and time-saving solution.

The Product Innovation Awards are judged by a group of 35 independent industry professionals, including architects, interior designers, lighting designers and veteran writers in the industry.

Simpson Strong-Tie Recognized
for Women in Leadership

Simpson Strong-Tie was recognized in the inaugural Watermark Index as paving the way for gender diversity in corporate leadership. It is one of only 11 companies in the San Francisco Bay Area where women hold 30 percent or more of the top five compensated executive positions and board seats.

Watermark, a leading Bay Area executive women's organization, collaborated with UC Davis to launch the Watermark Index, which is based on data from the 2015-2016 UC Davis Study of California Women Business Leaders. The study analyzed the 223 largest public companies headquartered in the Bay Area and found that companies on the Watermark Index outperformed other companies in the region by 49 percent and companies in the state by 35 percent.

	New Training for Soft-Story Retrofit Solutions Simpson Strong-Tie now offers a training course for soft-story retrofit solutions. The course is designed to familiarize structural engineers, architects, contractors and code officials with retrofit solutions for multi-unit wood structures with weak first stories that are vulnerable to collapse.
